Witchcraft
What is witchcraft?
Witchcraft is an umbrella term for many different workings carried out by those who call themselves witches. Though anyone can call themself a witch, there is debate on whether or not this actually makes them one. The word came about in old Europe to describe a group of people practicing an ancient tradition. It is not a religion but a craft, be it one based around the belief of the metaphysical world. The craft in it's essence is the manipultation of the metaphysical world in order to achieve something. The ways in which a witch does this is dependant on the tradition they subscribe to, there are many different so-called sects of witchcraft such as Chaos Magic, Wiccan Witchcraft, Traditional Witchcraft, Satanic Witchcraft etc. Regardless of the tradition, the person is still a witch. What makes them a witch is the indentification of oneself as a witch and the practice of the craft. I do identify myself as a witch as a well as a Volkhv and Hedgerider.
Unlike the Magic Theory page this page will focus on actual magical workings rather than how magic works - spells, rituals, all that yummy stuff. I believe it's important to know the cultural, moral, and religous background of a practicitoner before listening to them so I wanted to go into that here. I am a Pagan Theistic Satanist who works with chaos magic, traditional european magic/traditional witchcraft, demonology, hedgecraft and satanic witchcraft. Morally I focus on trust and honesty first and foremost, kindness second. I follow the rules of the natural world and tend to ignore human based thinking, as I mentioned before on this site I am nonhuman, this influences my whole life including my morality. I hold a great amount of respect for mother earth and my godesses and gods, I tend to put them first and have very little patience when it comes to human selfishness. I got into the occult and paganism out of a search for truth and found that in what I practice now, I aim to see the beautiful dark of reality and accept it, even worship it. One of the things I live by is "in darkness lies truth", as in when one abandons the biases and fears that hold them back and look into the darkness, they will see the truth of reality. Both lightness and darkness have places in this world, one cannot exist without the other and one can't live a balanced honest life without both.
